Fountain Worldwide –King of Shaves Comes Home To Race in Key West

With a world title under their belt and less than a month after the end of a strenuous season, the   Fountain Worldwide-King of Shaves team are headed to Key West , Florida, to compete in the prestigious end of season race.

With over 80 boats competing in multiple classes, this is known as the “race week” in Powerboating, and also the unified world Championships. Superboat International is the head Organization, but race teams from OPA, POPRA, OSS, OPS and Powerboat P1 will be attending.
Upon its arrival this weekend Team Fountain Worldwide –King of Shaves will visit the Fountain Powerboats manufacturing facility, in North Carolina, for some R&R and testing. The Fountain Powerboats race Crew, headed by Brian Forehand, alongside Mark Wilson, Crew Chief for #99 and Special projects manager for Twin Disc Inc., will make any necessary changes to secure the absolute fastest speeds and acceleration from the boat prior to heading south.

Before reaching Key West, Team Fountain Worldwide-King of Shaves will make a pit stop in Palm City, where the “World Championship celebration” will be held. Mark and Victoria Wilson, renowned for their outstanding hospitality, have been organizing since the chequered flag was dropped in Portimao. The whole team will be in attendance, including P1 officials Jim O’Toole and Robert Wicks. The infamous Reggie Fountain will also make an appearance, and friends and family that gave their support all season long will join in the fun. “It’s only fitting we have a huge celebration for what we have accomplished this season, let’s hope it’s a party for the history books!” comments Victoria Wilson, CEO of Fountain Worldwide and proud mother of Craig.

Key West is rich in racing history, with all the Powerboating legends having raced here, including Reggie Fountain and Fabio Buzzi. Both Craig Wilson and James Sheppard have had great success in Key West over the last five years, and have high hopes for the “race week”. “Key West is Special; the course is very challenging as it has variable water conditions. There is nothing like running into the Mallory square harbor with four or five boats side by side, it’s an amazing rush”, Comments Craig Wilson, “if you haven’t been to Key West to race or as a spectator, you have been deprived!”

The “race week” starts on November 4th and runs through the 11th. Race days are on Wednesday 7th, Friday 9th and Sunday 11th. Points are accumulated over the three races to determine the winner.
